2014 was a big year for Patriot Wood. The first year we’ve been in business, it was filled with unforeseen obstacles, new relationships, and some great successes. Thanks to your support, we’ve had moments like selling our 100th wooden flag and creating a free ebook. And we’ve enjoyed every moment of the ride.
Here’s a review of Patriot Wood’s 2014:
WOOD FLAG AND WALL ART PRODUCTION
In 2014, Patriot Wood sold more than 200 wood flags and other pieces of wall art. The most popular flags sold this year were the Maryland Wood Flag and the classic American Wood Flag.
Demand grew as the year went on, and November and December were the best months for Patriot Wood in 2014. We hope everyone who purchased a flag for Christmas enjoyed it!
We also had the pleasure of creating many different custom flags this year. It’s always a pleasure to create something new and special.
In 2014, Patriot Wood flags shipped to four countries and 42 states. The furthest a flag shipped was all the way to Australia—more than 8,000 miles from our Washington State workshop!
Last year, we added 31 new products to PatriotWood.com. Of these, eight were U.S. State flags and seven were versions of the United States flag. Building each flag for the first time always presented fun challenges, whether it was figuring out how to construct a multi-layered flag, using a new stencil, or cutting out tiny stars by hand on a scrollsaw.

PATRIOT WOOD ONLINE
We wrote 42 blog posts last year—ranging from flag histories to patriotism quotes from America’s founding fathers.
From early on, we decided to make learning a little bit about each flag we create a priority. Sharing what we learn on our blog has been a way for us to help others do the same.
Here are the four most popular posts from last year:
- Seattle Seahawks Custom Wood Flag
- Yo Ho, Yo Ho: A Pirate-Flag Primer
- Custom Wooden Wall Art: Get Yours Today
- 3 Important Grand Union Flag Facts Every American Should Know
This free ebook is the product of a collaboration with Jeffrey Kranz. It takes a look at the history of the Star-Spangled Banner—both the song and the flag. If you haven’t gotten a copy of this free ebook yet, feel free to grab one here.
A big thanks to Jeffrey: his help on this project was huge. Check out what he’s doing at OverviewBible.com if you’d like to see more of his work.
